The backlog of notified-but-undelivered US cases moved from roughly $32.0bn at the end of 2025 to $29.72bn by mid-2026 as Abrams deliveries completed; the package Taipei has publicly asked to be approved remains outstanding, and no new signature, delivery or public decision has been identified since July.

Why it matters

Only the last state is capability. The record runs in both directions at once: the largest package ever notified, more than $11bn, was entered in December 2025 while the backlog shrank, and individual cases stretch far longer than the aggregate suggests — 500 Stinger missiles took about a decade from notification to delivery. Domestically, the legislature's reduction was not proportional: it removed roughly NT$470bn of domestic uncrewed-systems funding while leaving foreign procurement tranches intact, so composition matters more than the headline. The same deadlock reaches outward — NASAMS and the Tactical Mission Network are reported held by the special-procurement dispute.
