What happened
Israel and Jordan sign a peace treaty at Wadi Araba that fixes their international boundary, sets water-sharing arrangements in an annex, and records Israel's respect for Jordan's special role in the Muslim holy shrines in Jerusalem.
Jordan's interface with the system — the Allenby / King Hussein Bridge crossing, water and gas supply, and its role at Jerusalem's holy sites — rests on this treaty. The boundary it fixed does not extend to the West Bank, whose status the treaty leaves to the Israeli–Palestinian track.
