What happened

The Integrated Food Security Phase Classification's Famine Review Committee confirms famine (Phase 5) in Gaza Governorate. Israel rejects the finding and disputes its methodology. By December 2025 the IPC classifies no area in famine.

It was the first famine classification in the Middle East and made food access a measured, dated condition rather than a contested description. The module carries IPC classifications as the partnership's findings with Israel's rejection attributed beside them.
