ISW assessed on 9 October that it defeated the northern arm of a Russian approach to Sloviansk and Kramatorsk and forced Russia to abandon an advance from the north-east, and Russian commentators conceded the setback: the new effects observable is met at the local scale. The redeployment of 1st Guards Tank Army units the corps claims is not independently established, and Russia's effort from Dobropillia continues, so the assessment of the front as attritional stands, now stated with its one local exception.

Operation Vivaldi went into a second phase north-west of Lyman, with the Third Army Corps reporting three settlements liberated, and assessed Ukrainian advances were recorded on several other axes while Russian forces gained near Kostiantynivka and south-east of Dobropillia. For the four weeks to 22 September DeepState shows a Russian net gain of 37 square miles, while an analysis of the Institute for the Study of War's data shows a net Russian loss of one; the two independent maps disagree on direction, so no month of net Ukrainian gain is established. No marker town changed hands and no new axis opened.

A senior Ukrainian commander announced an offensive push in northern Donetsk on 15 September, and the Third Army Corps disclosed an operation it named Vivaldi against the Lyman salient, claiming about 75 square kilometres cleared of infiltration and roughly 10 more recaptured, with Serednie named as liberated - which DeepState independently recorded. A named settlement changing hands is one of this question's observables and a named operation is more than the module has seen on this axis this year; neither disturbs the attritional reading at that scale. The area figures are the formation's own. No monthly assessed-change figure from independent mapping was published, no new axis was opened and no capture claim by either side was independently confirmed.
