What happened
The Security Council adopts Resolution 2334 (14–0, with the United States abstaining), stating that Israeli settlements in the Palestinian territory occupied since 1967, including East Jerusalem, have no legal validity, and calling on states to distinguish between Israel's territory and the territories occupied since 1967.
It is the most recent Council resolution on settlements and the basis of the Secretary-General's quarterly reporting on them, which still runs. It is the yardstick against which the 2025 settlement approvals, the E1 decision and the February 2026 land measures are reported by the UN; Israel rejects the resolution.
