Iranian material support to the Houthi movement has been reported over many years. What Vigil cannot establish is what is currently flowing or how far it translates into direction — and the movement's 2026 conduct is evidence against reading the relationship as control.
Ansar Allah (Houthi movement) receives material support from Iran and the Gulf. A directional arrangement: the two parties do not hold the same position in it. Authored once and read from both ends.

摘要
A supply relationship between Iran and the Houthi movement has been reported over many years and is not seriously contested in outline. Its current content during the 2026 war is not established, which is why the status is uncertain rather than active. The more important distinction this record preserves is between support and direction. Through 2026 the Houthis engaged selectively against Israel and then opened a campaign against shipping to and from Saudi ports at Bab el-Mandeb — a target set that serves Houthi objectives, and one whose principal effect was on the export route of a state Iran was not otherwise able to reach by sea. Vigil records material support where it is reported, records the degree of control as unestablished, and does not collapse the two.
為何重要
The Houthi movement can close the outlet of Saudi Arabia's escape route from the Strait of Hormuz. Whether that capability is exercised at Iranian direction or in pursuit of the movement's own aims changes what the Gulf's chokepoint exposure actually depends on — and the module would mislead badly if it asserted the first without evidence.

仍然未知的事項
- Reporting of 11 September 2026 raised the direction question directly and did not settle it. United States officials were reported to believe that hundreds of Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps officers are in Yemen, and five Yemeni government military sources attributed the Red Sea coastal campaign to IRGC direction, citing intercepted communications and captured prisoners and naming a senior commander. Those are a belligerent government's sources and an allied government's assessment, not independently established facts; Iran's foreign ministry spokesman said on 10 September that the movement "takes orders from no one". The record grades the direction question as unestablished and has moved no closer to resolving it.
- What material support, if any, is currently being provided has not been established from any source read. `status-uncertain` records that directly.
- Training, technical assistance, targeting support and financing are separate questions from equipment transfer. None is authored here, and the single component on this record is deliberate.
- No source read establishes a command relationship, and this module makes no claim about the movement's decision-making.
證據同樣支持的其他解讀
- The Houthi campaign against Saudi shipping is consistent with Iranian direction, and equally consistent with the movement pursuing its own long-standing conflict with Saudi Arabia using a capability it already held. The evidence read does not distinguish between these, and the record does not choose.
- A supply relationship established over a decade can persist in capability without ongoing transfers. Present Houthi capability is therefore not evidence of present Iranian supply.
