The pause ended on schedule. Russia's three-day order against strikes on Kyiv and Ukraine's reciprocal restraint on Moscow covered 5–8 September 2026, the duration of the envoys' visits, and nothing else: activity elsewhere continued through it, Ukraine's proposal of a wider three-day ceasefire was not accepted, and no text records what was agreed. Ukraine's deep strikes did not pause with it: the refinery series records markers struck on 6, 7 and 8 September. On 30 August the Russian defence ministry announced preparation of large strikes on Ukrainian energy infrastructure. No restraint of any kind is in force as of this date.
