In brief

Heavy artillery brigade of the high-command reserve, formed in autumn 2014 — publicly documented operating the war's largest tube systems, the 203 mm 2S7 and the PzH 2000, and a fixture of the artillery duel since 2022. No corps assignment is published; the reserve status is the reason.

Broad area of activity
Committed by battery wherever the heaviest fires are needed; its batteries have been publicly documented across the eastern front. No position is authored.
Notable history
Formed in autumn 2014 from a battalion of an existing artillery brigade, as the reserve of heavy guns Ukraine had let lapse before the Donbas war reminded it of their use. It kept the 203 mm 2S7 self-propelled guns of the Soviet inheritance in service when few armies had, and after 2022 became the only Ukrainian formation publicly documented operating both those and the German PzH 2000 — the ends of a fifty-year technological span in one brigade, sustained by American 203 mm ammunition supplied for the purpose.
Strengths
The heaviest tube fires in the force, a reserve status that lets them be concentrated rather than tied to one sector, and a public record of keeping obsolescent systems lethal.
Limitations
Ammunition for 203 mm guns comes from a narrow and finite supply; every system it operates is a priority target; and its structure and holdings are not published.
