- Notable history
- The division that garrisoned Chechnya after the second war there, reduced to brigades in the 2009 reform and re-formed in late 2016 — the ministry announced its reconstitution from three motor-rifle brigades — as the 58th Army's divisional formation. Its war was the 2023 defence: with the army's other formations it held the fortified belts south of Orikhiv against the Ukrainian offensive at Robotyne and Verbove, the most consequential Russian defensive success of the war, and absorbed the attrition that the army's own commander complained of publicly that July. ISW has tracked it on southern sectors since.
