Notable history
The capital's corps holds the south, which is the transition's most exposed frontier: the Golan buffer zone that Israel entered in December 2024 and beyond which its forces have operated since, the Quneitra countryside of the February 2026 incursion, Daraa where the uprising began, and Sweida, where the Druze factions' National Guard holds most of the province outside state authority and where Interior Ministry forces and the Guard fought again on 31 August 2026. The compilation assigns it the 44th, 64th and 70th Divisions and names its commander as a founder of Jabhat al-Nusra who holds Turkish citizenship. The 70th, built from Jaysh al-Islam returned to the Eastern Ghouta, is authored below.
