Notable history

Modernised rapidly from a largely obsolete force in the 1990s to one operating modern multirole and low-observable aircraft alongside a substantial bomber and support fleet. Its role in this module is principally about tempo rather than capability: detected sorties around Taiwan, median-line crossings and ADIZ entries are the figures through which the outside world reads the pressure system — and are, importantly, detections published by Taiwan's defence ministry rather than independently measured facts.

Strengths

Scale, rapid fleet modernisation, and the ability to sustain a high tempo of activity that imposes disproportionate maintenance and fatigue costs on a much smaller opponent.

Limitations

Pilot training depth and combat experience are untested, aerial refuelling and support fleets remain limiting factors for sustained distant operations, and high-tempo activity carries costs for the PLAAF as well. No basing, unit or disposition information is published in this module.
