Notable history
Almost every short account of the Iranian military describes two forces, the Artesh and the Revolutionary Guard. There are three: the Law Enforcement Command is a branch of the armed forces in its own right, answering to the Supreme Leader alongside the other two, and it is what makes the Iranian security structure legible as a whole. Policing in Iran is not a civilian function held apart from the military; it sits inside the same command architecture, and the General Staff's mandate explicitly includes integrating law-enforcement elements in wartime. The module authors it for that reason — to hold the institutional ontology honest — and not because the current war has given it a chronology.
Strengths
Nationwide reach and an internal-security mandate that gives the state a coercive instrument distinct from either military — which is why an account of the Iranian armed forces that omits it misdescribes the structure rather than merely abbreviating it.
Limitations
This module has no verified chronology for its conduct during the current war, and does not invent one. Its internal-security role in periods of domestic unrest is documented elsewhere and is not this module's subject; nothing here describes its methods, its subordinate structure, its deployments or its policing of protest, and the record is deliberately shallow rather than speculatively deep.

The AFGS's mandate includes integrating paramilitary and law-enforcement elements in wartime. What that has meant in the current war is not established in open sources, and the edge is graded low for that reason.
