Energy and shipping targets struck across four Gulf states

2 – 3 Mar 2026Key event

EnergyMaritimeMilitary

Over two days, Qatar's Ras Laffan LNG complex and the Mesaieed power-plant water tank, the Mussafah fuel terminal and Fujairah oil terminal in the UAE, and the Omani ports of Duqm and Salalah are reported struck; QatarEnergy suspends LNG production. The IRGC claims responsibility for a drone strike on the tanker Athe Nova, which it identified as an ally of the United States.

Why it mattersAn aggregate rather than seven separate records, because the analytically significant fact is the pattern: energy and shipping infrastructure across four states, including Oman, which the Security Council resolution nine days later names among the attacked. Iran's defence ministry reported some of these attacks while Iranian officials denied targeting Gulf energy facilities.
