Broad area of activity
The north-west from Shamkir, along the Armenian frontier in the Gazakh–Tovuz sector
Notable history
The 3rd Corps holds the frontier that was never part of the Karabakh line: the international border with Armenia's Tavush province, where the July 2020 clashes — three months before the war — took place and where the 2024 delimitation agreement returned four villages to Azerbaijani control, the only section of the border yet delimited. The corps sector also carries the Baku–Tbilisi–Ceyhan pipeline and the Southern Gas Corridor's route to Georgia, within range of the line. Ganja, its regional centre, was struck by Armenian ballistic missiles in October 2020. No brigade is listed here.
Strengths
The one sector with a delimited line, and the infrastructure corridor behind it that gives the sector strategic weight beyond the frontier.
Limitations
The same corridor is the sector's exposure. No strength, holdings, positions or readiness are published.
Related locations
Ganja: The regional centre in the corps sector, struck by Armenian missiles in 2020; no positions are represented.
