Broad area of activity
The Kharkiv-region axes: the 2022 counteroffensive and the Kupiansk and border sectors since. No current disposition is authored.
Notable history
A Kharkiv-garrisoned mechanized brigade with a 2014–15 Donbas record, it fought the 2022 defence of its own city and was among the formations that broke the Russian line in the September 2022 Kharkiv counteroffensive, the war's fastest advance. In the later reorganisations it was converted into an assault brigade — one of the formations the Ground Forces re-roled toward offensive infantry as the 2023 offensive plan took shape — and has since been publicly associated with the Kupiansk sector and the Kharkiv border, including the 2024 fighting after the Russian Vovchansk offensive.
Strengths
Local recruitment and terrain knowledge on its home axis, a documented counteroffensive record, and a command cadre strong enough that public compilation names it as the core of a new corps.
Limitations
Sustained border-sector fighting with thinner public reporting after 2023 than in its counteroffensive period; the assault conversion's substance is not published; its corps assignment is not confirmed.
