In brief

The Saudi navy's Gulf fleet, headquartered at the King Abdulaziz Naval Base at Jubail — the fleet on the sea that Ras Tanura, Abqaiq's outlet and the offshore fields depend on, and the one facing the Iranian coast.

Broad area of activity

The Saudi Gulf coast from Jubail

Notable history

The Eastern Fleet is the Saudi navy's Gulf command, seated at Jubail on the coast that carries the kingdom's principal export terminal and its offshore production. It operates the service's Gulf-side combatants, patrol craft and mine-countermeasures vessels, and its sea is the one the current war has made unusable for normal traffic — the disputed strike on Ras Tanura in March 2026 and the withdrawal of war-risk cover both happened on its coast. Nothing this module has read establishes what the fleet did in the war, and the record does not infer it.

Strengths

Basing on the coast it defends, and a mine-countermeasures role on the sea where mining is the most discussed threat.

Limitations

Faces the whole Iranian Gulf coast across a narrow sea with a force built for patrol rather than for a state-on-state naval war. No hulls, dispositions or operations are recorded.

Related locations

Ras Tanura: The terminal sits on the fleet's coast; the association is geographic and records no presence, escort or protective role.
