Notable history

The third district covers the Makran coast and the Gulf of Oman from Konarak, beside the port of Chabahar. It is the district whose water is open ocean rather than a confined gulf, and therefore the one associated with the conventional navy's prestige deployments — the distant cruises that are the Artesh Navy's way of behaving like a navy in the ordinary sense. Iranian media reported United States strikes at Konarak on 1–2 September 2026, carried here as an Iranian report.

Strengths

Direct access to the Indian Ocean without passing any strait, which no Gulf-side base offers.

Limitations

Distance from the Gulf's centre of gravity and from the industrial base at Bandar Abbas. No vessels, dispositions or condition are recorded.
