Notable history
The fifth district's seat is Bandar Lengeh, on the stretch of coast that faces the United Arab Emirates across the narrowest part of the lower Gulf. Its area contains the islands whose control Iran took in 1971 and which the Emirates still claim — the oldest live dispute in the module — and the western approaches to the strait.
