Key event

The memorandum of understanding expires unextended

17 Aug 2026

What happened

The sixty-day period established by the 17 June memorandum ends without extension. No agreement is in force between the United States and Iran thereafter.

Automatic expiry rather than termination, and six weeks after the arrangement had already been declared over. From this date the module's account of the war carries no operative agreement of any kind.
