Broad area of activity
The Absheron peninsula, Baku and the coast from the Russian border to the south
Notable history
The 4th Corps is the capital's, covering the Absheron peninsula and the coast, and compiled references describe it as motor-rifle brigades around Baku and along the northern coast toward the Russian frontier at Derbent's approaches. It is the corps whose task is not the Armenian frontier but the state's centre of gravity — the capital, the offshore fields and the terminals from which the Southern Gas Corridor begins — and it is authored so that the Land Forces' structure is complete rather than because the module's chronology reaches it. No brigade is listed.
Strengths
Interior position, the capital's infrastructure and the Caspian fleet beside it.
Limitations
A sector whose threats are strategic — the energy base — rather than territorial, for which a motor-rifle corps is not the relevant instrument. No strength, holdings, positions or readiness are published.
