Broad area of activity
The south from Beylagan along the Araxes valley to the Armenian frontier at Zangilan
Notable history
The 2nd Corps holds the south: the Araxes valley along the Iranian border, the districts returned to Azerbaijani control in 2020, and the approach to the Armenian frontier in Syunik through which any transit route to Nakhchivan would run. The 2020 war's decisive axis ran through its sector — the advance along the river and then north to Shusha — and compiled references describe it as concentrated on that front with part of its strength on the Iranian border. No brigade is listed here.
Strengths
The sector of the 2020 war's decisive manoeuvre, and the geography of the transit question on the Azerbaijani side.
Limitations
A long frontier with Iran, whose relationship with Baku has ranged from cooperative to hostile within the module's period, on the same corps' responsibility as the Armenian line. No strength, holdings, positions or readiness are published.
