以色列撤離其在加薩走廊的所有屯墾區以及約旦河西岸北部的四個屯墾區，並於2005年9月12日前自加薩境內撤出部隊，同時保留對加薩領空、領海與大部分過境點的控制。2005年11月15日的《通行與進出協議》在歐盟邊境援助團之下重新開放拉法。
Disengagement removed the Israeli ground presence without settling Gaza's status: whether Israel's continued control of borders, sea and air amounts to occupation is disputed, and the ICJ's 2024 opinion addressed it. The EU mission created in 2005 is the one redeployed to Rafah in February 2026.
