概要
裡海海軍——1992年從蘇聯裡海區艦隊分割繼承而來的巡邏與海岸部隊，任務是保護海上油氣平台，以及通往哈薩克與土庫曼、中間走廊裡海段所仰賴的海上航道；在這片封閉海域上，俄羅斯的區艦隊是唯一具有分量的海軍。

- Azerbaijan received a share of the Soviet Caspian Flotilla at the 1992 division and built from it a small navy of patrol vessels, minesweepers and coastal craft, with the coast guard of the State Border Service beside it. Its geography sets its task: the offshore fields of the Azeri– Chirag–Gunashli complex and the Shah Deniz gas field are the state's economic base, and the ferry and container lanes to Aktau and Turkmenbashi are the Caspian crossing of the Middle Corridor that Europe's Central Asian trade has come to depend on. The navy has never fought; its relevance is the infrastructure it watches and the sea it shares with Russia's Caspian Flotilla, the only serious naval force on the water and the one that fired cruise missiles from it into Syria in 2015 and into Ukraine after 2022.
