The United States funds and supplies Israel's military under a ten-year memorandum signed in 2016, and deployed a THAAD air-defence battery to Israel in October 2024. It is at once Israel's principal supplier and the broker of the Gaza and Lebanon arrangements Israel is party to.

Israel and the Levant receives material support from The United States and the Levant. A directional arrangement: the two parties do not hold the same position in it. Authored once and read from both ends.

Synthèse

US military assistance to Israel runs under a memorandum of understanding signed in September 2016 covering fiscal years 2019 to 2028: $38bn, of which $33bn is foreign military financing and $5bn missile-defence cooperation. In October 2024 the US Army deployed a THAAD battery and its crew to Israel, according to the Army's announcement. Within the module the same government holds every other role: it drafted the 20-point Gaza plan, is one of the four guarantors of the Gaza ceasefire, holds the unified command of the authorised International Stabilization Force through Maj. Gen. Jasper Jeffers, chaired the 2024 Lebanon Mechanism and facilitates the Israel–Lebanon Framework. The war between the US, Israel and Iran is the Iran–Gulf module's record.

Pourquoi c’est important

A mediator that is also a party's principal ally is the defining feature of the Levant's arrangements: the US can condition its supply, and the other parties read its proposals in that light. The memorandum's expiry after fiscal 2028 puts the terms of the next one on the agenda of the administration that brokers these arrangements.

Ce qui reste inconnu

  • The relationship long predates 2016; validFrom dates the memorandum now in force, not the start of US assistance.
  • Whether US air-defence units remain deployed in Israel in October 2026, and in what number, is not stated: no 2026 Defense Department release was found, and reported figures for interceptor use are estimates.
  • Deliveries, emergency drawdowns and holds on specific munitions since October 2023 are not enumerated here; they are events, not the standing relationship.

Lectures que les éléments permettent aussi

  • US supply can be read as leverage the United States holds over Israel's conduct, or as a commitment that limits that leverage; the record states the arrangement and does not assess its use.

Figure ici parce que l’évaluation propre à la fiche n’est pas la seule que ses sources permettent — et non comme une réserve sur l’évaluation ci-dessus.
