In brief
The Kyiv centre at the top of the military medical system — the Main Military Clinical Hospital, the referral end of an evacuation chain that begins at a casualty collection point hundreds of kilometres away, and the clinical base of the Military Medical Academy.

- Broad area of activity
- Kyiv; the receiving end for the most complex cases from every regional centre, and the point from which patients are transferred to partner countries for treatment.
- Notable history
- The main military hospital of the Ukrainian armed forces, inherited from the Soviet garrison hospital system and designated a national clinical centre in the reorganisations of the 2000s. It sits at the top of the regional structure the Medical Forces adopted in 2020 — five regional clinical centres feeding one national centre — and doubles as the principal clinical base of the Military Medical Academy, so that the branch's most complex surgery and its teaching happen in the same place. The full-scale war has made it the destination for the cases the regional centres cannot finish and the gateway to the treatment programmes partner states run for Ukrainian casualties.
- Strengths
- Concentration of the branch's specialist capacity and its teaching in one institution, well behind the reach of most strike systems, with a continuous flow of the most demanding cases.
- Limitations
- A single national centre is a single point of concentration in a war of long-range strike, and the burden it carries — reconstruction, prosthetics, rehabilitation — outlasts the war and exceeds what any hospital publishes.
