- Notable history
- Formed in March 2022 from Belarusian volunteers gathering at a Warsaw recruitment point and from Belarusians already in Ukraine, named for the leader of the 1863 rising against the Russian Empire, and expanded to a regiment in May 2022 after its first fighting north of Kyiv. It chose to stand outside the Ground Forces' International Legion to preserve its autonomy and is reported under Defence Intelligence instead. Its significance is political: the only armed Belarusian formation of any size, with an openly stated aim of a free Belarus and a leadership that has publicly disagreed about how political the regiment should be — disagreements that produced the breakaway units public reporting records.
