Broad area of activity
The Donetsk-city sectors since 2014 — Marinka and the Avdiivka approaches most publicly; corps sectors since 2025. No current disposition is authored.
Notable history
One of the brigades Ukraine raised in 2014 as the Donbas war outgrew the pre-war army, and one that has barely left that front since: the Marinka and Avdiivka sectors before 2022, and the same Donetsk-city arc through the full-scale war's positional battles. That continuity gives it a knowledge of one stretch of front few formations have, at the cost of the attrition a decade in the line implies. In August 2025 it was reported among the brigades that joined the 3rd Army Corps in the corps reform.
Strengths
A decade of positional familiarity on one front and the institutional depth of a brigade older than most of the force.
Limitations
The unglamorous long-defence role brings less documentation and less recruitment pull than the assault formations, and a decade of attrition on the war's most static front.
