One JNIM operation strikes positions in Burkina Faso and Niger on the same day — Key Events — Sahel

What happened

JNIM attacked army detachments at Gayéri, Solhan and Sebba in eastern and northern Burkina Faso and positions at Torodi and Diagourou in Niger's Tillabéri region. Burkina Faso's army reported all three attacks repelled and more than four hundred attackers killed, a figure only it published. At Diagourou a National Guard post and an adjacent state-backed militia base were overrun, with dozens killed according to a local tally.

The attack that shows the Liptako-Gourma as one battlefield rather than two national ones: a single operation across a border the two states defend separately and the armed group does not recognise.
