Standing Baltic Air Policing has run since 2004 on a four-month rotation of volunteered fighters, with three basing options since 2024.
NATO has approved a rotational model of modern air and missile defence systems. Ground-based deliveries are mostly announced rather than confirmed: one IRIS-T SLM fire unit was handed to the Estonian Air Force in June 2026, a multinational contract covers up to a thousand Patriot interceptors with no delivery established, and a Lithuanian NASAMS delivery is reported but unconfirmed.
