- Historically the Euphrates Shield, Olive Branch and Peace Spring zones of the north — Afrin, al-Bab, Jarablus, Tal Abyad, Ras al-Ain — and, since 2025, wherever the divisions built from the factions are posted. Nothing about current dispositions is authored.
- Historique notable
- Assembled by Türkiye from the remnants of the Free Syrian Army for the Euphrates Shield operation of 2016 and formalised as the Syrian National Army in 2017, the factions garrisoned and administered the zones Turkish operations took from ISIS and the YPG, fought the YPG at Afrin in 2018 and in Peace Spring in 2019, and were paid, armed and directed from Ankara while nominally answering to the opposition's interim government. Their conduct in Afrin — property seizure, extortion, detention — is among the best-documented abuse records of the war. In the December 2024 offensive they advanced alongside HTS's forces and took Manbij from the SDF. On 29 January 2025 the new government announced the dissolution of all factions into the Ministry of Defence; the 62nd, 70th, 76th, 80th and 86th divisions were built from SNA formations, several under their former commanders. UN investigators reported government-affiliated forces among those responsible for the March 2025 coastal killings. Türkiye's August 2025 defence memorandum with Damascus and its August 2026 delisting of an integrated former YPG commander are the state-to-state form of a relationship that used to run through these factions.

L’opération Peace Spring et le réalignement du Nord-Est

Les FDS concluent leur premier arrangement de sécurité avec Damas et Moscou, et les forces américaines se regroupent autour des champs pétroliers et dans l’Est.
