- Historique notable
- The Northern Command holds the IDF's two northern fronts, and its Syrian one changed character in December 2024: as Damascus fell, Israeli forces entered the 1974 disengagement buffer zone on the Golan and positions beyond it, the air force destroyed most of Syria's strategic weapons and air defences in days, and the command has since conducted recurring operations in the south — the Quneitra incursion of February 2026 among them — alongside the security negotiation with Damascus that opened in January 2026. Israel invokes the protection of the Druze as a stated justification for its southern posture, struck Damascus during the July 2025 Sweida violence, and is the state to which Sweida's spiritual leader publicly relocated his community's horizon in August 2026. The 210th Division, the Golan's territorial division, is the command's formation on this front and is authored below.

Négociations de sécurité Israël–Syrie
Des négociations sous médiation américaine, à Paris et ailleurs, approchent d’un accord de sécurité : les termes rapportés comprennent un retrait israélien progressif vers les lignes de désengagement de 1974 avec maintien de positions sur le versant syrien de l’Hermon, un dispositif démilitarisé dans le Sud et des engagements syriens contre la présence liée à l’Iran. L’accord est présenté à plusieurs reprises comme presque achevé — et reste non signé, les incursions et frappes israéliennes se poursuivant en parallèle, dont une incursion en février à Quneitra et des opérations en juin dans la province de Daraa. Le 22 septembre 2026, le président syrien a déclaré que les négociations avaient atteint près de 90 pour cent d’un accord avant qu’Israël ne se retire pour des raisons non précisées et n’ajoute des conditions, cinq jours après les avoir dites en progrès ; à l’Assemblée générale le lendemain, il a exigé un retrait sur les lignes de 1974.
