The consequential ones are infrastructural: accelerating the Xiamen section of a proposed Xiamen–Kinmen bridge, studying a Kinmen section, examining an electricity connection between the two, and advancing gas infrastructure that could support a future link. They follow an April 2026 package promoting cross-strait water, electricity, gas and bridge connections, to which Taipei's Mainland Affairs Council responded that such projects touch national security, border control and governmental authority and cannot be decided unilaterally.
