The north-eastern energy chain is hit a fourth time since August, with no repair timeline

15 October 2026 Jbessa, southern Hasakah

What happened

The Syrian Petroleum Company said an explosion struck the Jbessa gas pipeline in southern Hasakah in the late afternoon of 15 October 2026 and called it sabotage, naming no party; power stations would keep receiving gas by alternative arrangements. It was the fourth interruption to the transferred north-eastern chain since August, after 18 August, 28 September and the Tal Hamis oil line on 7 October. The same morning the Baniyas–Homs products pipeline was found punctured west of Homs, which state media called attempted theft; nothing links the two. The operator said on 8 October that the Tal Hamis line had been repaired; no return to service of the Jbessa line was reported by 31 October.

The chain is the northeast's first large asset transferred to the state, and the series measures two things: whether interruptions recur and whether the state repairs them. They have recurred four times in two months; three of four repairs are on the operator's record. The operator has called each incident sabotage and published no finding, so the series establishes neither responsibility nor whether these are attacks or theft.
