What happened

The SDF takes the last ISIS-held village on the Euphrates; the territorial caliphate ends, leaving an insurgency in the desert, and tens of thousands of fighters and family members in SDF-run prisons and the al-Hol and Roj camps.

Territorial defeat converted ISIS into the remnant threat the module tracks — and created the detention-and-camps file that has been a security and humanitarian burden on the northeast, and now the state, ever since.
