A tanker convoy is destroyed near Kayes and its drivers executed

What happened

JNIM ambushed a convoy of at least forty fuel tankers near Ambidédi, between the Senegalese border at Diboli and Kayes. At least twelve tankers were destroyed; human rights researchers documented the execution of between twelve and eighteen drivers. Whether the convoy was escorted is disputed between accounts. Truck drivers' unions struck in February.

The last dated attack on a tanker convoy in this module's record, and the one that made drivers themselves the target — the blockade's pressure moving from the cargo to the people who carry it. From February 2026 fuel reached Bamako in mass escorted convoys without a reported loss.
