使用方
Taiwan (Republic of China): Taiwan's principal fighter type · United States and the Taiwan Strait: Supplier under Taiwan Relations Act arms sales
戰場角色
Air defence and air policing, including the routine interception activity that constitutes Taiwan's day-to-day response to reported PLA air presence, plus anti-ship and standoff strike roles in a defensive concept.
優勢
The V-standard upgrade brought a modern active electronically scanned array radar and current-generation missiles across most of the fleet, giving Taiwan a broadly homogeneous and capable fighter force. Deep US support, training and spares ecosystem behind it.
限制
A fourth-generation airframe facing an opponent operating low-observable types in growing numbers. More fundamentally, aircraft require runways, and an air force operating from a small island has inherent basing constraints — the principal argument made by advocates of shifting investment toward ground-based and mobile systems. Sustained interception activity imposes airframe hours and crew fatigue costs that fall asymmetrically on the smaller force.

外觀識別
A single-engine fighter with a ventral intake under the nose, a bubble canopy and a single fin. The upgraded configuration is distinguished from earlier Taiwanese aircraft chiefly by the dielectric radar nose and by antenna fairings on the spine rather than by planform, so the two are hard to tell apart at a distance — a point worth remembering when reading photographs described as showing upgraded aircraft.
有文件記錄的衝突使用
Taiwan's air force publicly reports responding to PLA activity around the island on a near-daily basis. Delivery of newly built Block 70 aircraft and the upgrade programme for existing airframes have both been publicly reported, with schedule slippage acknowledged. The first two of the 66 newly built Block 70 aircraft arrived in Taiwan on 2 October 2026, having left the United States on 17 August; the Air Force announced acceptance and conversion training to follow, and the defence minister said more than two would be delivered in 2026. The programme had been due to complete by the end of 2026. No basing, dispersal, readiness or sortie-rate information is published in this module.
