The de facto entity's politics have been Russian-facing since 2008, but the sequence here states the relationship unusually plainly: an incumbent leaves to take a post in the Russian presidential administration, the man whose career was in the Russian state and who had been running the office since June is confirmed in it by a margin that is not a contest, and the same polling infrastructure serves a Russian federal election in the same days. What that establishes is the direction of the career pipeline and of the administrative integration, which is the module's standing question about these territories. What it does not establish is a change of status: no annexation instrument, no treaty and no new recognition followed, and reading a landslide in an unrecognised election as evidence of either popular consent or imminent absorption goes beyond what a result can carry.
