- Formed with the theatre commands in 2016 from the air forces of the former Nanjing Military Region. It is the organisation that generates the activity the outside world reads this system through: median-line crossings from August 2022 onward, daily air defence identification zone entries, and the large multi-service exercises the theatre announces by name. Two things are worth keeping apart when reading those numbers. The counts are Taiwanese detections published by Taiwan's defence ministry, not independent measurements; and a sortie is an event, not an intention — the module counts activity and does not infer purpose from volume. The 2026 pattern makes that caution concrete: detected air activity fell substantially through the first half of the year while naval and coast guard presence did not, which is a change in the mix of instruments rather than a reduction in pressure. Dowództwo Wschodniego Teatru Działań ChALW ogłosiło rano 29 grudnia 2025 r. wspólne ćwiczenia o kryptonimie „Justice Mission-2025” z udziałem jednostek wojsk lądowych, marynarki wojennej, sił powietrznych i sił rakietowych na wodach i w przestrzeni powietrznej wokół Tajwanu. Były to ósme duże ćwiczenia wokół wyspy od sierpnia 2022 r.; trwały do chwili, gdy Dowództwo ogłosiło ich zakończenie późno w dniu 31 grudnia, a najintensywniejsza aktywność przypadła na pierwsze dwa dni.
