- Bemerkenswerte Geschichte
- Formed with the theatre commands in 2016 from the air forces of the former Nanjing Military Region. It is the organisation that generates the activity the outside world reads this system through: median-line crossings from August 2022 onward, daily air defence identification zone entries, and the large multi-service exercises the theatre announces by name. Two things are worth keeping apart when reading those numbers. The counts are Taiwanese detections published by Taiwan's defence ministry, not independent measurements; and a sortie is an event, not an intention — the module counts activity and does not infer purpose from volume. The 2026 pattern makes that caution concrete: detected air activity fell substantially through the first half of the year while naval and coast guard presence did not, which is a change in the mix of instruments rather than a reduction in pressure. - Scale, a rapidly modernised fleet, and the ability to sustain a tempo of activity that imposes disproportionate maintenance and crew-fatigue costs on a much smaller opponent operating from a smaller number of known airfields.
- Einschränkungen
- Pilot training depth and combat experience are untested; aerial refuelling and airborne early-warning capacity remain the practical limits on sustained activity at distance, particularly east of Taiwan; and high tempo costs the larger force something too, which published counting exercises rarely register. No basing, unit, sortie-generation or disposition information is published in this module.

Schlüsselereignisse
Justice Mission-2025: die größte Übung seit 2022, und die nächstgelegene
Das PLA Eastern Theater Command kündigte am Morgen des 29. Dezember 2025 gemeinsame Übungen mit dem Codenamen „Justice Mission-2025“ an, an denen Einheiten von Heer, Marine, Luftwaffe und Raketentruppe in den Gewässern und im Luftraum um Taiwan beteiligt waren. Es war die achte große Übung um die Insel seit August 2022; sie dauerte, bis das Kommando spät am 31. Dezember ihr Ende erklärte, mit der stärksten Aktivität an den ersten beiden Tagen. Taiwans Verteidigungsministerium meldete am ersten Tag 89 erfasste Flugzeuge und 28 Marineschiffe — davon 13 der chinesischen Küstenwache statt der Marine — und am zweiten Tag 71 Flugzeuge sowie weitere 15 Küstenwachschiffe; der 29. Dezember war der zweitgrößte eintägige ADIZ-Einflug seit Beginn der Aufzeichnungen. Die angekündigten Sperrgebiete wurden teils über Navigationswarnungen des Eastern Theater Command und teils über die Maritime Safety Administration der Volksrepublik veröffentlicht, ein weiteres Gebiet nur per Funk angekündigt. Zur Gesamtzahl gehen die Angaben auseinander: Taiwans Verteidigungsministerium nannte sieben ausgewiesene Zonen, eine Zusammenstellung zählt acht.
Beteiligung an Kampagnen
Die Mittellinie wirkt nicht länger als Begrenzung
Nach den Übungen vom August 2022 werden Überquerungen der Mittellinie der Taiwanstraße durch Flugzeuge der PLA zur Routine statt zur Ausnahme, und Peking bestreitet öffentlich, dass die Linie als anerkannte Grenze existiert. Taiwans Verteidigungsministerium meldet die Überquerungen weiterhin täglich.
