Battlefield role

The ubiquitous mechanised-infantry workhorse on both sides of the front.

Strengths

Available in enormous numbers; amphibious; the 30 mm autocannon remains effective against infantry and light vehicles.

Limitations

Thin armour that modern ATGMs, mines and FPV drones defeat easily; infantry frequently ride on top rather than inside for survivability — a verdict on the design.

Visual identification

Long, low hull with a pointed bow; small centrally-mounted turret with a long thin 30 mm cannon; six road wheels and rear troop-compartment doors.

Documented conflict use

Documented in combat on both sides throughout the war; among the highest visually confirmed loss counts of any vehicle type.
