In brief

The armed forces of the High North, a founding member’s military whose own organisation page names four services, two further branches and a set of joint organisations including the Joint Headquarters at Reitan. The organisation page names no brigade; the Army’s own sub-pages now do, and that finding is recorded below rather than authored.

Broad area of activity
Norway, its sea areas and airspace from the Skagerrak to the Barents Sea, including the land border with Russia in Finnmark. The Joint Headquarters states that it holds command and control of all military activity in Norway and of Norwegian personnel abroad.
Notable history
Norway has been an ally since 1949 and its armed forces are shaped by that continuity: a single national joint headquarters at Reitan near Bodø, a Home Guard published as a branch in its own right, and a border task in Finnmark held by the Army since 1921. Finnish and Swedish accession in 2023 and 2024 changed its position more than its structure — the northern flank became a Nordic region inside the alliance, with a combined air operations centre at Bodø and a land component command in Finland recorded elsewhere in this module — and the armed forces’ own pages now describe an Army growing from one brigade to three.
Strengths
A joint command that already exists. The Joint Headquarters describes round-the-clock surveillance of Norway’s land, sea and air territory fused into one picture shared with the alliance, and a total-defence coordination role with civilian authorities; that is the institutional substance of the High North for this module, and Norway publishes it.
Limitations
Norway’s weight in this module is maritime, Arctic and energy, not land manoeuvre, and its armed forces publish structure at the level of branch and named organisation rather than formation. The organisation page names no brigade and no Home Guard district; the Army’s sub-pages do, and this tree has not yet been extended to them. Nothing about readiness, strength or the state of the Army’s brigade build-up is carried.

Rows are layout only — position and order carry no hierarchy, importance, sequence or strength. Every record shown is an immediate subordinate of the selected organisation. Headings are derived from each record’s own type and echelon. They are not command layers, and no such layer exists in the force tree.
