In brief

The armed forces of the state that holds one side of the Suwałki ground and hosts the presence NATO describes as a permanent German base. Its components are established here from the Lithuanian legal-acts register and the Seimas’s principal-structure law rather than from its own web estate, which remains bot-gated.

Broad area of activity
Lithuania, between Kaliningrad and Belarus; host to the German-led brigade inaugurated in May 2025 and to the NATO battlegroup at Rukla.
Notable history
Lithuania fixes the principal structure of its armed forces by law and the statute of each formation by ministerial order, which is why this tree can be read from a legal register while the ministry’s site cannot be opened. The structural change of this decade is the division: the Seimas added an infantry division to the principal structure in June 2024 and on 25 June 2025 named it the First Division of the Lithuanian Armed Forces, with three permanent brigades, engineer and artillery regiments and a reconnaissance battalion. The 2026 statutes of the Land Force and the brigades put that structure into operative legal text. Alongside it, NATO records the German-led brigade inaugurated in May 2025 and scaling to full operation by 2027.
Strengths
A structure defined in statute at every level from the service to the regiment, with express subordination sentences — stronger public evidence of the tree than any ministry web page in this module’s sixteen states. A national division being built at the same time as a permanent allied brigade on the same ground gives Lithuania two brigade-scale receiving structures where in 2022 it had one battlegroup.
Limitations
Every Lithuanian record here rests on the register, and the register establishes structure, never strength, readiness or stations. The Air Force, the Navy and the Special Operations Force have their subordinate units named in their orders only as a class, so those branches end at the service. The Defence Staff’s own statute and the Land Force order V-780 were not re-served by the register on 28 September 2026, and this record relies on the readings recorded at P4.5 for both.

Rows are layout only — position and order carry no hierarchy, importance, sequence or strength. Every record shown is an immediate subordinate of the selected organisation. Headings are derived from each record’s own type and echelon. They are not command layers, and no such layer exists in the force tree.
