NATO establishes the ninth battlegroup, in Finland — Key Events — NATO Eastern Flank

What happened

NATO establishes Forward Land Forces Finland, the Alliance's ninth multinational battlegroup, led by framework nation Sweden, to enhance deterrence and defence along the north-eastern flank. NATO publishes Denmark, France, Iceland, Italy, Norway and the United Kingdom as contributing nations. No garrison, lead unit or headquarters has been published for it.

The ninth formation completes the forward-presence architecture along the whole flank and closes the circle opened by the 2022 applications: one new member now frames a presence in another. Its unpublished garrison is also the module's standing example of a gap recorded rather than filled.
