Modes opératoires privilégiés
Patience, dispersal and pressure on people rather than on places. Since the territorial defeat in 2019 the pattern has been small autonomous groups operating out of open ground that offers space rather than sanctuary, attacking movement, isolated positions and individuals — tribal figures, local officials, workers on the land — rather than contesting control of anything. Financing is extortion and taxation of what moves. There is no governance offer and no attempt at one. The organisation's own declared route to regeneration is the detention and camp system, which is why the campaign it wages and the humanitarian file are the same file.

Second, patience is not a uniform characteristic — the 2022 prison assault and the January 2026 ambush were deliberate, resourced operations, not the low-tempo pattern the rest of this description covers. Third, describing the fall in tempo as a doctrinal recalibration assumes a decision was taken; it is equally consistent with attrition or with a pause, and the module says so rather than choosing.
