In brief

The land service, which its own armed forces publish not as a page but as the institution the Mechanized Infantry Brigade belongs to: the brigade is the Land Forces’ brigade by name, and the brigade commander is simultaneously the Land Forces commander. One brigade is the whole of the published regular land structure.

Broad area of activity
Latvia’s land territory; the service’s only published formation is seated at Ādaži.
Notable history
Latvia reorganised its land forces into a single brigade structure from 2004, after NATO accession, and introduced the new structure in 2006; the brigade became a mechanised infantry brigade and the host of the NATO forward-presence battlegroup at Ādaži. The reintroduction of compulsory service in 2023–2024 sends conscripts to the brigade among other units, which is the first structural change to the published land service since the brigade structure of 2006.
Strengths
A single, published, professional brigade that the armed forces call their heaviest fist and their largest professional unit, now paired with a multinational brigade on the same ground. Concentration is the design: one national brigade, one allied brigade, one training area.
Limitations
The Land Forces are not published as an organisation with a structure of their own. Everything Latvia publishes about its regular land force is the brigade and its battalions, and the battalions are below this module’s floor. Whether a second regular formation is planned under the 2025–2036 development plan is not stated on any page opened.

Subordinate formations

Rows are layout only — position and order carry no hierarchy, importance, sequence or strength. Every record shown is an immediate subordinate of the selected organisation.
