In brief
The service the Defence Forces call their main arm. Its page publishes an infantry-brigade training frame, territorial units, deployable battalion tactical groups and support units as categories, and lists the Estonian Division and the commands beneath it; the brigades themselves appear only on the Division’s page.

- Broad area of activity
- Estonia; the service’s stated development priorities are operations to protect Estonian territory with the allies and participation in missions outside it.
- Notable history
- An army staff was added to the Estonian headquarters in 2001 alongside the naval and air staffs created in 1995. The service’s published shape has since been a training-and-support brigade frame with territorial units and deployable battalion tactical groups; the Estonian Division, which the Defence Forces publish as their largest land unit, now sits at the top of that structure and is the change that matters here.
- Strengths
- It is the service through which the Estonian defence model reaches the ground: the reserve system, the territorial units and the division that is meant to unite them with allied formations all resolve here. The published tree is short but explicit about what each layer is for.
- Limitations
- The Land Forces page publishes categories of unit and one formation. The 1st and 2nd Infantry Brigades are named only on the Estonian Division’s page and are not authored in this Atlas, which is frozen at the depth recorded in P4.5; where the Division sits is stated differently by two Estonian pages and is recorded on the Division record rather than resolved here.
