- Broad area of activity
- Denmark, from a brigade headquarters published at Slagelse, with units published at four barracks across the country. The seat is the one the Army publishes; no area of operations exists at this level.
- Notable history
- The 2018–2023 reorganisation that set 1st Brigade on the heavy-brigade path gave 2nd Brigade the other half of the Army’s work: development of reconnaissance, armour and light infantry doctrine and technique, training of officer candidates, and the generation of the Army’s contributions to operations. That division of labour — one brigade to fight as a formation, one to develop and produce — is the published structure of a small army, and the Army describes the brigade’s range as running from light infantry to battle tanks.
- Strengths
- The Army’s published force-generation engine. The contributions Denmark rotates to the flank are trained here by the Army’s own account, and the development responsibility for armour and reconnaissance sits with it, which makes it the institution behind Danish presence on the eastern flank rather than the formation that provides it.
- Limitations
- Not a deployable formation in the sense 1st Brigade is meant to become, and the Army does not present it as one. Its battalions and barracks are published and not carried, no equipment is attributed to it here, and the rotations it generates are deployments the module does not record.
