In brief

The joint support area — placed in service on 29 April 2025 under the Unterstützungskommando der Bundeswehr in Bonn (established October 2024), dissolving the Streitkräftebasis and the central medical service into one organisation for medical care, logistics, military police, CBRN defence and civil-military cooperation: the enabling structure behind German reinforcement and transit.

Broad area of activity
Germany as a whole, as the support area for all four services and, by the module's reading, for allied forces in transit; no depot, route or capacity is authored.
Notable history
Part of the 2024 reorganisation the Bundeswehr frames around Kriegstüchtigkeit: a new Unterstützungskommando was established in October 2024 to bundle the capabilities of the Streitkräftebasis, the central medical service and further agencies, and on 29 April 2025 the Unterstützungsbereich was placed in service, the first time the Bundeswehr dissolved two organisational areas outright. The hub lists what it now holds — medical care, logistics, military police including the guard battalion, CBRN defence, civil-military cooperation, the planning office and the armed forces office — under nine named commands and offices.
Strengths
One command for every enabling function that reinforcement across Germany depends on, created explicitly to orient the Bundeswehr on territorial and alliance defence, and the counterpart on the German side to NATO's Joint Support and Enabling Command.
Limitations
A young organisation whose pages describe a consolidation, not its capacity; the hub does not publish what the area can move, treat or guard, and this record does not infer it. The transit role is the module's reading of the remit, stated as such.

Predecessors: Streitkräftebasis · Zentraler Sanitätsdienst der Bundeswehr

The Bundeswehr states that with the Streitkräftebasis and the Sanitätsdienst it dissolved two organisational areas for the first time, folding their capabilities, the Planungsamt and tasks previously under the Territoriales Führungskommando into the new support area.
