The German Navy describes its usual operating waters as the North Atlantic, North Sea and Baltic Sea. That is a published habit, not an assignment, and no current area is carried.
重要歷史
The oldest of the standing forces: founded as the Standing Naval Force Atlantic at the end of the 1960s — the German Navy gives 1967, other accounts January 1968 — and given its present name in 2005 when the standing forces were reorganised. NATO describes the standing naval forces collectively as a continuous, credible and agile maritime capability that can be deployed rapidly in crisis, and lists them among the elements of its presence in the east.
優勢
Continuity. It is a multinational formation that exists every day of the year under a rotating commander, which means the alliance always has a surface group at sea somewhere in the North Atlantic to Baltic arc without a decision to form one. It is the surface group whose published habitual waters include the Baltic, which is why the module carries it.
限制
Typically a handful of destroyers or frigates and a supply ship, each a national contribution on a tour, so its size and composition are national decisions renewed continuously. Nothing about which ships, which nation commands, or where it is at any moment is public on the pages read, and none of it would be recorded here if it were.
