- 部分
- 廣泛活動地區
- Latvian airspace, with its base in Rembate parish near Lielvārde; allied air policing over Latvia is flown by NATO detachments, not by this service.
- 重要歷史
- Latvian military aviation began as an aviation park in 1919, became a division in 1921 and a regiment in 1926, and ceased to exist on 25 December 1940. The Minister of Defence signed the order re-establishing the Air Force on 17 June 1992. Its modern published shape — a staff, an air defence divizions, an airspace surveillance squadron and an aviation squadron — reflects a service built around watching and defending the airspace and moving people rather than around combat aircraft, and the 2023 State Defence Service sends conscripts to its air defence divizions.
- 優勢
- A published surveillance-and-air-defence organisation feeding the allied air picture from a state that borders Russia and Belarus, with an air base that receives allied aircraft. The air defence divizions is the element that has grown in relevance since 2022, and Latvia publishes it as a named component.
- 限制
- The service publishes no combat aircraft; air policing, NATO's air defence mission since August 2026, is an allied rotation under NATO direction. The published structure stops at squadron and divizions level, and nothing about systems, quantities or readiness is published in a form this record carries.
